Made in Germany - since 1900

In the year 1900 the company “Steidinger brothers” was established by Christian Steidinger in St. Georgen (Black Forrest / Germany). The production of parts for spring drive assemblies began. Later the manufacturing of complete spring drives started. 1921 already over 1500 spring drives left the factory daily.

In the year 1927 a combination engine from an electrical and a spring drive assembly was presented - the “dual engine” in such a way specified, therefore the origin of the mark DUAL. The need of electric motors rose as private houses got electrified in these years. DUAL manufactured monthly around the 10,000 pieces, also the manufacturing of complete grammophone drives is introduced.

1937 the DUAL record player receives a medal of honor on the world exhibition in Paris. After the war the sluggish resumption of production begins. 1949 are then introduced the first DUAL disk-changer - model “1000”. 1950 the DUAL factory produces around 200,000 drive assemblies annually. The first own crystal systems with a tracking force of approx. 9 Pond came 1952, luggage devices and amplifier suit-cases followed starting from 1955/56. With the introduction of the stereofony also DUAL presented its stereo systems. New developments followed such as tape recorders, tuners, amplifiers, loudspeakers and compact-stereo-systems on which DUAL was equally successful.

1971 DUAL took over the competitive enterprise PE (Perpetuum Ebner) and folded up the resources of both companies. While DUAL generated its highest profits in the 70's the surprising bankruptcy came in 1982. The enterprise was bought by the French company THOMSON. Thereby further products came into the assortment like for example video recorders and CD players.

1988 DUAL was resold to the german Schneider Rundfunk Werke AG, which for their part added television sets from own production to the DUAL product range. The companys headquarter was moved completely to the german Türkheim in 1993, the residential of Schneider Rundfunk Werke AG.

In 1993 Alfred Fehrenbacher GmbH took over the production of the complete turntable program of DUAL. Sales and marketing of DUAL continued at Schneider Rundfunkwerke AG. 1995 the german  Karstadt AG aquired the rights to use the name DUAL for the marketing of its own consumer electronic products. Schneider Rundfunkwerke AG terminated the selling of DUAL record players.

2006: The distribution rights for DUAL analogue turntables are transfered to the “DUAL Phono GmbH” in St. Georgen – a company founded and owned by Alfred Fehrenbacher. Production and sales are now again in one hand, at the town where the brand once was founded. The DUAL Phono GmbH provides SINTRON Vertriebs GmbH (Iffezheim/Germany) with the exclusive right of sale for Germany and further countries world-wide.
